One crane was not enough, so the crew brought in the steam crane to help with the unloading ... This picture didn't really fit in that well with the actual layout of Emsingen station, nor can you see the truck the Marzipan is loaded on. It's a bit overkill to call in the steam crane for unloading a car when there is a gantry crane on the other side of the station, so the photo with the gantry crane won out. Nevertheless, I do like this picture, and it gave me an opportunity to play with the smoke effect at the crane. So here it is as a bonus.

The sweet freight has reached its destination: The  big stage on the Emsingen market square. It's time for the big celebration and everybody gets some Marzipan to share. I wish all my readers a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! [ Bonus ]

The freight house also got a delivery. Looks like they will need at least a pallet jack or maybe a fork lift. [ part 4 ]

I woke up early today and caught this special delivery arriving at Emsingen station. Looks like the town is getting ready for yummy treats. [ part 2 ]

 

Following this recipe Tatjana found for me I made Stuffed Bell Peppers for dinner tonight. They came out much better than I had hoped for. The kids were pleased.

  I made another apple cake while watching OpSIG's Second Section this afternoon. Cake came out good and will serve us well for the first half of the week.

Dinner tonight turned out much better than I expected. 

  I woke up today and had a craving for cake. Marmorkuchen would be nice. Instead of chocolate powder I found chocolate chips in the kitchen cabinet. That'll do. I could have used more. The cake turned out a bit dark on the outside, but everyone approved.

Turning this ...         ... into this. I made my usual apple pie recipe, but used pears instead. Skinned pears are very slippery...

Both work and hobby projects in the last few weeks required substantial amounts of screen time, so I made a cake for a change. We had left over Italian prunes. Not enough for a whole cake, but certainly enough for a different take on my usual apple cake. For entertainment while baking, I watched a cab view video of a Metronom run from Uelzen to Hamburg Hbf. Kind of ironic when complaining about too much screen time, I know ...

It's raspberry season. For a change I joined the family for berry picking at Berry Island Farm . After a quick 45 minutes we had filled a good portion of our trays.

I might have mentioned before that I prefer baking over cooking. For today's event Tatjana and I made Parmigana di melanzane (basically baked egg plant). It's a lot of work, but the recipe was easy to follow, and the result totally worth the effort. Sadly, it's not very photogenic, so you just have to believe me.

Tatjana and I made Sachertorte. A lot of work, but it turned out great.

We had a very German dinner tonight.

The turkey is ready. Time to eat.
